On a cold start to February a few of our juniors crossed just over the border into Elsenham Essex for monthly short game coaching with Owen McKenna. Postponed from January due to freezing conditions they had the opportunity with Owen to master their skills in a bunker.
They were taught that the key element to classy bunker shots was “Divot Control”, and how deep a slice of sand to take to play different shots. For that reason a lot of sand was moved into Cambridgeshire by 6 juniors during the day. Once Owen had established good divot control they moved on to skills for short and long bunker shots, and then layered other skills into the mix.
The coaching with Owen is going very well given his great ability to communicate technique that will improve our juniors for the coming playing season. Essex, don’t ask for your sand back !
Next session with Owen is March 6th
