Cambridgeshire Under-14 boys team had a great result at Halesworth GC in their recent triangular match with Suffolk and Norfolk. On a warm sunny day, the team (a blend of Under-14’s and Under- 12’s) started convincingly in the foursomes, not losing a match.
The team finished the morning 3-1 up in both matches, with Matty Laubsher and debutant Luie Hall wining both their matches. Jake Plumb led the singles matches with convincing victories 9-7 and 6-4, followed with double wins by Harry Howell (2-up & 5-3) and Rohan Neat (6-4 & 2-1). Harry McDonnell, Will Grimaldeston, Ben Collier and Matty Laubsher contributed points resulting in an overall win and retention of the trophy, Cambridgeshire 15, Suffolk 13 and Norfolk 8 points.
A special mention to Ellis Kerr who stepped in as a last-minute travelling reserve and played his foursomes matches on his own, wining one foursomes and one singles match.
