Captain gets a hat-trick over Northants

After overseeing two memorable victories against Northants for the Cambridgeshire A and B teams, Graham Goodman took his senior’s side to Peterborough Milton in the first Anglia Seniors league match.

In the morning foursomes, Keith Moore and Bill Rusted were in blistering form and won 5&3. Graham Goodman and his partner John Yuill won 1 up. A half was gained by Kevin Diss and Neil Hughes. At lunch the score was 2.5 – 2.5.


In the afternoon, the singles went Cambridgeshire’s way with a 6-4 victory. Wins were earned by Bill Rusted 3&2, Terry Ryan 3&2, Graham Goodman 4&3, Neil Hughes 5&4 and Jeremy Baldwin 5&3. Halves were gained by Kevin Diss and Keith Moore.

The overall result was a 8.5 – 6.5 Anglia league win for Cambridgeshire. In the Midland seniors league Steve Plumb won his singles 1 up so the county won 9.5 – 8.5 in this league.

Graham Goodman Captain said “We have had three memorable victories to start the season off for the county and also the juniors are flying as well. This is a long season so we have to keep the team momentum going”.
