On the last day of March, a record number of Cambridgeshire boys and girls showed their enthusiasm to play golf, as they took part in the first Order of Merit event of 2019 at Links Newmarket.
With almost 50 juniors competing in the 18-hole and nine-hole categories, all abilities were present from those obtaining a handicap to scratch golfers. Although the course was in perfect spring conditions a stiff breeze ensured that all the golfers were presented with an exciting and enjoyable challenge.
Tyler Perkins (Bourn) took the honours in the Nett competition with a very impressive Nett 69 and Morgan Triton (Gog Magog) took second place with a Nett 70. In the Gross Competition despite a double bogie start, Alfie Guy-Pinkney (Ely City) showed his determination and continued progression by posting a superb 74 in tough conditions. 2nd place went to Ella Mason who shot a gross 78.
In the 10 hole reds competition Alexander Mills had a convincing win shooting 55, Lewis Karim took second 4 shots behind on 59.
