The final leg of the winter series was held at St Neots GC last Sunday in near tropical weather. Ed Dimambro won on the day with a 1 under par 69 shooting 6 birdies and going out in 36 shots and coming back in 33. Second place on count-back was Mark Phillips from Nene Park making his competition debut with a 73 from Danny Loveday. The U21 prize went to the impressive Alfie Guy-Pinkney with a gross 74.
In the main overall competition four players were in competition for honours. In the final round Luke Ryan shot 76, Paul Hodgkin 76, Toby Crisp 77 and Tom Rogers 74. Luke Ryan prevailed as the overall winner of the inaugural winter series with 50 pts. 2nd was Ed Dimambro with 47pts, 3rd Tom Rogers with 44pts, 4th Danny Loveday 40pts and 5th Owen Davies with 26 pts.
Graham Goodman team manager said “Congratulations to Luke who played the most consistent golf throughout the winter and also to Ed Dimambro who delivered to Winter series wins. The overall objective of the winter series was to make the CAGU golfers competitive over the winter in readiness for the county season. This objective has been met whilst giving valuable experience to the juniors to play with current county players. We now have a spine of county players for the start of the league season in a few months time “
