CAGU are keen to promote competitive golf for players of all handicaps. For the lower handicap golfer there is a full range of County championship events held throughout the year which may be viewed and entered through the Championships page.

Higher category golfers may be interested in greensomes leagues and knock out matches arranged between different clubs in the County and these may be viewed via the Interclub page.

The County also runs an A and B team with scratch matches against other Counties. These matches are listed under the County Matches page.

In Cambridgeshire we are always on the lookout for talented golfers who can represent the County. We aim to promote junior golf, as these players are the future of the county so if you have the ability irrespective of age you can play for the county.

The county has two teams, A and B and play in the Anglian League which is of a matchplay format. The A team play in the Eastern Counties Foursomes and in the England Golf County Championships.

Competitive golf in the county is thriving. We have 4 winter series events, which prepares the county for the oncoming season. Early season matches are held against a past team of legends and there are also fixtures against Bedfordshire and Essex for the David Hall Trophy.

How do you play for the county?

The golfer must be a member of a Cambridgeshire club and must have a low category one handicap. Howdidido.com is a useful tool on how the individual is playing in competitions. However, the low handicap is not in itself a sole guide. Far more important than the actual handicap figure is evidence that the players golf is outside his home club. We look at evidence that the player enters a number of events away from his home club.

Code of conduct

Those of us who are associated with county golf are extremely privileged and proud to be responsible for promoting elite amateur golf on behalf of the golfers of Cambridgeshire. We expect this pride to be evident in anyone privileged enough to play for their county. There is a code of conduct that was developed in conjunction with Cambridgeshire players detailing the standards of behaviour we expect, and anyone selected will sign this document and adhere to the behaviour described in this document. We expect everybody to abide by the rules of golf and golfing etiquette.

The Team Manger believes in creating an environment that is fun, team based, competitive and one that delivers results.

Therefore, to play for the county, play well at your own club and play loads of external events at County and National level and County representation is there for you to enjoy.
