B Team achieve creditable draw against Norfolk

Cambridge B team v Norfolk B team – Girton Golf Club 1st June 2025

The day was sunny with a fresh breeze.

The course had been well prepared for our visit.

We were welcomed with a bacon roll and coffee/tea.

Buggies and range tokens had all been arranged for the team and officials.

The captain Chris Handy had sent through the order of play.

The Captain and partner, Charlie Evan’s, led the team out first -they managed a win.

Followed by Will G and Hamish M -they also had a win.

Our youngest pairing Ellis K and Tristan E went out next unfortunately they only just lost, but put up a great fight.

The last pairing with more experience, were Paul T and George W, but were unlucky to lose.

Most of the teams had never paired together before and it had been a while since playing for the county.

After lunch the Captain Chris put out the order.

The afternoon started well with Chris leading the team from the front. On the 9th hole he put his drive next to the pin, this was the shot of the match, he went on to win his match.

Hamish battled hard to come back but not enough and eventually lost.

Charlie is a battler and always smiling even when he is down in the game but never count him out.

Will had a very hard game against the Norfolk player and despite his best efforts lost.

Ellis went out with something to prove and managed a win against a vastly more experienced player, fantastic effort.

Tristan followed Ellis and was up for a come back after the morning. He played a fantastic game against a seasoned golfer not showing any mercy, you would think he was a lot older the way he played the match.

George battled through and was unfortunate to lose his match.

Paul, on his home course played well but with windy conditions and against a good opponent was unfortunate to lose the game.

The draw was an excellent result against a seasoned team.
