CAGU County Boys Championships

It was great to see so many junior golfers at our major event of the year which was hosted by St Neots Golf Club.

In a change for this years event we teamed up with the girls County team to host a joint event for boys and girls on the same day.

An early start for many competitors we kicked off the day at 8.15 with our older age divisions playing two rounds, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

With the hot weather we have been having we made sure everyone was well stocked up with water and sun cream for the day ahead. Once the older age groups had all teed off we then welcomed our younger age division, the U12’s at lunch time who were playing an 18 hole competition.

The course was playing pretty tough on the day with difficult greens and hard, dry fairways. Coupled with the tight dog leg fairways and water at St Neots it was a real test of skill and clever thinking to put in good scores on the day.

Needless to say all of our juniors rose to the challenge and in very good spirits took on the course and played some great golf.

Well done to everyone who took part and a huge well done to our County Champions Jack Healey U18 winner, Jack Sherriff U16 winner, Jake Notton U14 winner and Rory Davey U12 winner.

Also well done to our nett winners Hamish Anderson U18, Arian Kotecha U16, Matthew Russell U14 and George McNicol U12 winner.

Many thanks to all the organisers from CAGU and CHWGL and the whole team at St Neots that helped make the day run smoothly and to the catering team for keeping all the juniors fed throughout the day.

A special thanks to St Neots Men's Captain Peter Wilson for the early morning starting duties, and to Steve Whitney - St Neots GC President for his support throughout the day.

Also well done to our nett winners Hamish Anderson U18, Arian Kotecha U16, Matthew Russell U14 and George McNicol U12 winner.
