Referees - We need you!

DO YOU HAVE AN INTEREST IN THE RULES OF GOLF?

Your County is in need of Rules Officials to officiate at County and Regional competitions.

Education to carry out these roles is provided by a series of Rules Seminars

These seminars are tailored to provide both instruction for those interested in the Rules, as well as meeting the demands of those more experienced in the Rules. There are three levels, and at each stage of the Rules Education process, there is the opportunity to sit the appropriate exam. Delegates should successfully complete each stage before progressing to the next level, thereby attaining and building a comprehensive Rules knowledge.
In order to qualify as a County Rules Official, the Level 2 exam must be completed with an exam score of 70% or above

Level 1 Rules Seminar

This is available to anyone online as the R&A Rules Academy and is designed to increase general knowledge of the Rules to players and officials. Details may be found at:
https://www.randa.org/en/rules-academy

Level 2 Rules Seminar

This consists of a two-day seminar conducted by England Golf.
Prior to undertaking the Level 2 Seminar, students should study the Rules in detail such that they can quickly provide answers to questions from players during a competition. Students may be mentored by local qualified referees during the learning process.
When the student believes he/she is ready they should apply to attend a Level 2 Seminar. Provided that the student has given a commitment to act as a County referee in future County events, the cost of the seminar will normally be reimbursed by the County.

Details of Level 2 Seminars being run by England Golf can be found at
https://www.englandgolf.org/level-two-seminars

On completion of the Level 2 Seminar, candidates will have the opportunity to sit the Level 2 examination.

Level 3 Tournament Administrators and Referees Seminar (TARS)

This three-day seminar is conducted by The R&A. Places on this seminar are very limited and candidates to attend are normally selected by the national organisation.
