After heavy rain two days before the tournament, Ely GC pulled out all the stops for the county to make sure the Winter Series 2 competition was played.
Sam Marshall (St Neots GC) led the way with a composed and clinical round of 68, firing matching nines of 34–34 to post a four-under-par total and claim victory in the Ely leg of the series.
James McLaughlin (Ely GC) pushed hard with an impressive card of his own, rolling in five birdies and an eagle on his way to a three-under-par 69 to take second place.
A pair of two-under-par 70s from Paul Hodgkin (Ramsey GC) and Ellis Kerr (Gog Magog GC) rounded out the top performances of the day.
In the overall Winter Series standings, Hodgkin remains the player to catch. His 27 points keep him at the top of the leaderboard, with Marshall and Owen Cousins close behind on 25 points as the race for the title heats up.
